Frat party?! Cool!

I crashed the wrong frat party once. That is, I meant to crash a particular frat party in Ottawa (my roommate was ostensibly there), but chose the wrong side of the street. Didn't matter, 'cuz that was also a frat party there. For certain, ahem, strategic reasons my buddy and I camped out nonetheless. Long story short, we found the stairway to heaven but couldn't ascend as my buddy, a man with 3 kidneys, was mixing our drinks, composed primarily of Smirnoff Blue. In other news, I highly recommend Bloc Party, Interpol, and We Are Scientists, the new acquisitions of the night.

Really? Interpol is great, but Bloc Party did not really grab me. Maybe I should give it more of a chance. Have not heard We Are Scientist but have heard good things. Will keep my eyes open. My current obsession is the Delgados (new to me despite being no more and SO good and also Scottish!)

Ixnay to the Bloc Party from the girl who defended the Postal Service to me!?(en passant, the new Death Cab is more of the same, though that's a good thing) Also enjoyed the Decemberists late last night, but only because they added some levity to the drafting of an Asset Purchase Agreement.

Hey! I will defend the Postal Service to all and sundry! They are amazing. So there. I have not heard the new Death Cab but will as soon as possible. And have been on a big Decemberists kick lately as well. Asset Purchase Agreements aside. (You lawyer types are kind of weird).

I'm not knocking the Postal Service - I'm now one of the converted (notwithstanding that Ben Whatisname sings like a Stendhal character) - just saying that Bloc Party reminds me of them, and ipso facto you ought to like them.

ought to, eh? Ach, well - I suppose I only ever listened to them as background (my Edinburgh flatmate listened to them a lot for a while there). We shall see.
